Daniel grew up in Munich, Bavaria, and started hunting Steinpilz (Boletus edulis) with his family at age three. Daniel is the author of field guides to Edible Mushrooms of the Pacific Northwest and California (both Harbour Publishing, 2011 and 2012), Amazon Mushrooms (2014, co-authored) and brand a new “Field guide to Medicinal Mushrooms of North America with Robert Rogers”. He grew up collecting and eating wild mushrooms in the Alps and has been foraging for over 20 years in the PNW and beyond, sharing his enthusiasm as a mushroom educator and guide and as Puget sound mycologal society vic e-president. His Cordyceps research has been featured in The Economist, National Geographic, New York Times, Washington Post, NPR, BBC World Service etc. In the last decade Daniel started exploring neotropical fungi. With his travel agency MushRoaming Daniel is organizing mushroom focused eco-adventures to Tibet, Bhutan, China, the Amazon, Colombia, the Austrian Alps and the Pacific Northwest since 2007

Sue is a mycologist, naturalist, teacher and healer. She has been studying the taxonomy and ecology of fungi for the past 45 years, having begun her coursework in the Pacific Northwest where the mushroom season lasts 9 months of the year. She completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees in botany and mycology at Humboldt State University under the tutelage of Dr. David L. Largent. For 18 years she taught biology and environmental science labs at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. While at Skidmore she served as a mycological consultant to Ecovative for the first three years before becoming the full time Mycologist at the company. In her retirement she consults and teaches about fungi.

Gavin McIntyre is the co-founder and Director of Business Development of Ecovative Design. Tess Burzynski is the founder, head educator and cultivator at Fungi Freights Urban Lab and Environmental Studio. A Science degree graduate from Wayne State University, she works as an Environmental Scientist and continues doing research with Mycoremediation in the city of Detroit. She is a member of the Michigan Mushroom Hunters Club and the North American Mycological Association. Throughout her studies she has learned the impact mycelium plays in the environment and how beneficial, tenacious and magical it truly is. Through Fungi Freights, her goal is to reunite mushrooms and humankind by educating Detroit and its surrounding neighbors about the benefits mushrooms have on health, food scarcity and the environment.
