Get the Most Out of This Marvelous Mushroom

Reishi is known as the “10,000-year-old mushroom,” or the “mushroom of immortality.” Reishi supports body and mind function and, as its nicknames suggest, can support longevity by promoting cellular health.* Read on to learn more about Reishi, as well as how to make Reishi tea — a delicious brew that supports numerous systems of the body!*

The Auspicious and Magical Reishi Mushroom

In Chinese, Reishi is referred to as Lingzhi, a name that can translate to “auspicious plant,” “divine mushroom,” or “marvelous fungus.”

Reishi is quite marvelous indeed. Research has shown that the polysaccharides compounds in Reishi promote heart health as well as the body’s natural immune response.* Triterpenes, another compound found in Reishi, support liver health as well as heart health and cholesterol levels within normal ranges.*

How to Make Reishi Tea

Reishi is traditionally consumed as a tea. Its hard, woody fruiting body can be dried and preserved for a long time. It is typically cut into long strips or small squares, or ground into a powder for easy use.

Reishi’s taste is bitter but delightfully earthy. Regularly sipping on this tonic throughout the season promotes your body’s immune response.*

Wondering How To Make Reishi Tea Delicious? You’ll Need the Following:

  • 3-5 grams of dried Reishi mushroom in slices or chunks
  • 4-5 cups of filtered water
  • Optional: maple syrup, honey, or lemon, to taste
  1. Add your water to the pot and bring it to a boil.
  2. Add the mushroom pieces in and reduce the heat to simmer on a low heat. Let your concoction simmer for at least 30 minutes and up to 2 hours.
  3. Once the appropriate amount of time has passed, remove from heat, strain, and set aside. You can repeat the process with the strained pieces until the resulting extraction is no longer bitter or colored, which usually takes about three times.

At Mushroom Revival, we love sipping on a steaming cup of Reishi tea all winter long, for both mood and immune support.*
